{"id":278,"date":"2014-10-18T12:06:58","date_gmt":"2014-10-18T12:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/singwarte_wordpress\/?p=278"},"modified":"2017-12-08T20:27:13","modified_gmt":"2017-12-08T20:27:13","slug":"just-cant-get-enough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/?p=278","title":{"rendered":"Just can&#8217;t get enough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>October 2014<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2026 is not refering to commercial bird sound records, but to autumn. <strong>Autumn<\/strong> isn\u2019t<br \/>\njust when I was born, what obviously made this season to something special to<br \/>\nme, it is the time of several major events in nature: <strong>bird migration<\/strong> to the wintering<br \/>\ngrounds, Red Deer rut, vocal activities by owls and some raptors during so called<br \/>\nautumn display and passerines like the European Robin or Black Redstart triggered<br \/>\nby roosting <strong>migrants<\/strong> in their feeding territories.<\/p>\n<p>And because these things happen within only <strong>a few months<\/strong> it\u2019s difficult to participate<br \/>\nin all these exciting events.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Dar\u00df<\/strong> peninsular in northeastern Germany has always been a perfect place to<br \/>\ntry it. The coastline sometimes provides <strong>thousands of migrating passerines<\/strong> on one<br \/>\nmorning or night, greater flocks of <strong>roosting waders, ducks and large gulls<\/strong> &#8211; so nowadays it\u2019s getting a bit cosy on<br \/>\nwatchtowers and the <strong>permanent clicking and rattling DSLR cameras<\/strong> doesn\u2019t make<br \/>\nit a good place for sound recording.<br \/>\nIn the twilight of a misty morning one could mistake these locations with a <strong>WW2 film<\/strong><br \/>\nset &#8211; offshore<\/p>\n<p>Working offshore gives me the opportunity to visit places in northern Germany<br \/>\nbetween two survey trips.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s very interesting to study the bird migration from <strong>offshore<\/strong> and from <strong>onshore<\/strong><br \/>\nthe next day or the other way around.
