August 2014<\/strong>
\nAt the age of seven<\/strong> I started to desire to become a racing cyclist – for the simple
\nreason that there was a cycling club a few hundred meters away from my home
\nand I felt very attracted<\/strong> to the boys and girls with their brightly polished bicycles.<\/p>\n

It was only allowed to join the club at the age of eight and it was hard to abide
\nthe months until then. To be honest I spent a lot of time at the club<\/strong> talking to
\nthe guys in hope someone would see us together and that my own bike – custom
\nmade by my father – could impress them.<\/p>\n

After becoming a member of the club, cycling became a real obsession<\/strong> to me,
\neven though I was never really good at it, due to the lack of a compatitive nature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But there is something it has in common with sound recording: it is mediative<\/strong>.
\nI always enjoyed to cycle through the landscpape (at this time there were just
\na few cars in the GDR<\/a>, one could easily ride for an hour or so without
\nencountering one of them), just enjoying the impressions<\/strong> and letting my
\nthoughts run wild<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Leipzig <\/strong>– where I live – has an old open air velodrome<\/a> and from time to time<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

there are even races.
\nLast weekend, there were the german motor-paced racing<\/a> championships.
\nAt first glance this is quite the opposite of what I\u2019ve described above but I was
\ntempted to find out if I could enjoy the combination of cycling and heavy
\nnoise <\/strong>made by the pacemaker\u2019s motorcycles.<\/p>\n
