{"id":2698,"date":"2021-06-23T12:31:09","date_gmt":"2021-06-23T12:31:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/?p=2698"},"modified":"2021-07-27T07:13:37","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T07:13:37","slug":"scorched-earth-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/?p=2698","title":{"rendered":"Scorched Earth II"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>July 2021<\/strong><br>Regular visitors to my blog will know that one of my <strong>favourite nature reserves<\/strong> is<br>a former military training area south of Berlin (see: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/?p=2327\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/?p=2327\" target=\"_blank\">Scorched Earth I<\/a>)<br>After a <strong>massive fire<\/strong> some years back, <strong>new flora<\/strong> is now showing up and with it first<br>larger fauna. One species was always present even right after the big fire, is the<br>Eurasian Nightjar <em>Caprimulgus europaeus<\/em>. This bird species prefers an <strong>open, dry<br>landscape<\/strong> with little ground vegetation and prefers to hunt insects in flight.<br>The <strong>overall behaviour<\/strong> of this species is remarkable, as it is <strong>highly specialised<\/strong> and<br>the mostly <strong>nocturnal encounters<\/strong> are always something special.
