{"id":2327,"date":"2019-07-28T06:13:51","date_gmt":"2019-07-28T06:13:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/?p=2327"},"modified":"2021-06-23T13:08:24","modified_gmt":"2021-06-23T13:08:24","slug":"scorched-earth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/?p=2327","title":{"rendered":"Scorched Earth I"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>July 2019<\/strong><br>The <strong>naturalist&#8217;s year<\/strong> is more or less structured by the <strong>life cycles<\/strong> of the natural world.<br>Living in a life cycle mostly <strong>alienated from nature<\/strong>, it brings with it that only partial<br>insights into the former are possible.<br><br>At least once a year, I usually visit a <strong>former military training area<\/strong> south of Berlin in<br>order to enjoy the nocturnal behaviour of the peculiar Eurasian Nightjar\u00a0and the<br>sandy landscape and <strong>seclusion<\/strong> it lives in.<br>This year, however, it was very unusual: the entire forest and the entire lower aufwuchs<br>was <strong>burnt<\/strong>. The extreme heat resulted in a forest fire that affected an area of <strong>700 hectares<\/strong>.<br>The consequences of <strong>climate change<\/strong> were shockingly plastic and concrete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Had I been able to make fantastic sound recordings in the forest two years ago, now the<br>walk was <strong>fairly surreal<\/strong>.
