March 2010<\/strong>
\nEnd of March my companion Marcus<\/a> and I made a trip to a famous spot<\/strong> for
\namphibians, particularly for Moor Frogs Rana arvalis<\/em> and European Common
\nToads Bufo bufo<\/em>.
\nI hoped to get a few recordings in a quiet surrounding<\/strong> \u2013 but my mission failed.
\nThe destination is a nature reserve in the north of Leipzig called Papitzer Lachen<\/em>
\n(Papitz`s Puddles).
\nThere are a few puddles surrounded by meadows, small bushes and rows of
\ntrees. To our surprise there were a lot of European Fire-bellied Toads Bombina
\nbombina <\/em>in full advertising display. But there were a lot of people too!
\nTheir dogs flushed birds and amphibians as well. In addition there was heavy
\nnoise from the motorway two kilometers away.<\/p>\n
