It was not my<br \/>\nfirst time there, but the first time with having more time to enjoy the landscape<br \/>\nwithout having to run from one tourist attraction to the next as with my parents<br \/>\nin my boyhood.<br \/>\nNevertheless, we did not have too much time, so we went to the rather well<br \/>\nknown nature related hotspots.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bergen, Norway<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst we had to pick up <a href=\"http:\/\/afternature.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marcus<\/a> in Bergen. he lived there for half a year. For sound recordings it\u00b4s seems<br \/>\nalmost <strong>too windy<\/strong> but it is a outstanding place to get familiar with a lot of species<br \/>\nand the sounds the make. The most impressing thing there are the <strong>breeding colonies<\/strong><br \/>\nof pelagics like: Atlantic Puffin <em>Fratercula arctica<\/em>, Razorbill <em>Alca torda<\/em>, Common<br \/>\nGuillemot <em>Uria aalge<\/em>, Black-legged Kittiwakes <em>Rissa tridactyla<\/em>, Northern Gannets<br \/>\n<em>Sula bassana<\/em> and Northern Fulmars <em>Fulmarus glacialis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u00b4s a shame that large numbers of the juvenile Auk\u00b4s nowadays <strong>starve to death<\/strong>, the<br \/>\nsea is heavily overfished. Actually from most of the catched fish they produce <strong>fish<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>meal<\/strong> to feed cows and pigs in factory farming. A small hint for environmentalists<br \/>\nliving a <strong>lifestyle based on animal products<\/strong>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Beside the seabirds there are some species of songbirds on Runde too: Rock Pipit<br \/>\n<em>Anthus petrosus<\/em>, Meadow Pipit <em>Anthus pratensis<\/em>, Twite <em>Carduelis flavirostris<\/em><br \/>\nor Northern Wheatear <em>Oenanthe oenanthe<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>On top of the island you can see and hear Great Skuas <em>Stercorarius skua <\/em>and<br \/>\nWhite-tailed Eagles <em>Haliaeetus albicilla<\/em> usually circle somewhere all time.<\/p>\n<p>A serious problem for making sound recordings are the ubiqitous <strong>wildlife<br \/>\nphotographers.<\/strong> There is literally no place near birds one can get rid off the<br \/>\nclicking and chattering of cameras.<\/p>\n<p>The funny part of our visit there was an Eurasian Oystercatcher <em>Haematopus<br \/>\nostralegus<\/em> which attacked everyone who came closer to it\u00b4s nest. Unfortunately<br \/>\nit&#8217;s nest was 300m beside a <strong>main path<\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.singwarte.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/09_blog_eoyscat_MH_58.jpg\" \/><\/a>0125,<\/p>\n<p><strong>B\u00f8yabreen, Norway<\/strong><br \/>\nB\u00f8yabreen is a well know <strong>glacier in <\/strong>the<a title=\"Jostedalsbreen National Park\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jostedalsbreen_National_Park\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Jostedalsbreen National Park.<\/a> Beside busses<br \/>\nfull of tourists we sighted Bramblings <em>Fringilla montifringilla,<\/em> Redwings <em>Turdus iliacus<br \/>\n<\/em>and Willow Warblers <em>Phyloscopus trochilus<\/em> there.<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" situated south to the<br \/>\nRingk\u00f8bing Fjord. This area gives you a proper impression what Central Europe must<br \/>\nhave look like before the age of industrial farming.<br \/>\nBecause I was more focused on the discovery of personal new species I didn&#8217;t make<br \/>\nmuch sound recordings there. But this is definitely a place I have to come back!<\/p>\n<p>Without the friendly guard of the reserve we definitely wouldn&#8217;t have seen so much<br \/>\nbirds.
